September 2010 Class News

Hi Classmates:  September was a super slow news month.  But I know there was activity out there.  Plenty of room to put stuff on our website(s) so don’t worry about overloading your editor.  Your travels may be of interest to your old friends and classmates.

The Halliwill’s visited Germany for a couple of weeks.  Ike says he was there when he was in the army and attended the Passion Play at Oberammergau 50 years ago!  They went back to watch the performance once more and it was better than ever.  See an  overview of Ike and Sharon’s trip on Wadena Wind

The Prairie Dog reports Tom and Loie Smith made a trek to their favorite haunt on the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Chuck and Eve Zosel made their annual drive to Idaho and points west.  To see Chuck’s day by day blog through the trip along with a photo a day  Go to Chuck of The Woods.

Bob Danielson’s daughter is an enthusiastic butterfly collector and raiser.   For an interesting look at her unique hobby see her web site at http://www.bluedesigncollective.com/about/monarchs

I think Cis sent me this funny video of a speech on old age.  Here is an appropriate message for the more elderly people among us.  The lady is (only) 72 years old!   link

Eve found this information regarding the tree planting in Wadena:

The Wadena County DAC will donate $5 to the Wadena Area Replant Project for each $9 bracelet sold. Businesses currently selling the bracelets include: Wadena State Bank, First National Bank of Wadena, First National Bank of Sebeka, Wadena Soil and Water Conservation District, and the DAC Thrift Store. If you are interested in displaying bracelets in your place of business, contact either Sylvia Silvers at wcdac@wcta.net or Beth or Monica (DAC) at 218-837-5182.

Each bracelet is hand made by a person with developmental disabilities at the Wadena County DAC. Each bracelet is unique and has a charm of a tree to indicate your support of the Wadena Area Replant Project. Supplies are limited! Check with a business listed above to get yours now! They make great gifts.  (We bought several on a recent trip to Wadena and plan to give them as Christmas gifts for our grandchildren.)

Go to the Wadena Replant Project website to see images of the bracelets: http://www.treesforwadena.com/bracelets.html
Buy 2 bracelets and help plant a tree!

Tomorrow I head out to the Boundary Waters for an expedition to Knife Lake, the former home of Dorothy Molter, “The Root Beer Lady”.  My goal is to locate and take pictures of Dorothy’s amazing rock.  Hopefully, if I survive this journey, I will have pictures of the rock for you next month.

Have a great fall, Chuck
