Unseasonably warm weather has caused the lakes to begin to break up early this month.
A big Thank You to all our contributors:
From Audrey (Erickson)Petersen Thank you Chuck!
Hope you get fish up there at Lake of the Woods; one of my first dates with my husband was a trip up there fishing but it was summer time. Yes, we did fish and we did get fish.
We requested vacation time for the week of the class reunion but did NOT get it; sometimes life has a bummer spot in it......this was/is disappointing.
Thank you for keeping me up to date and on your list; very impressive what so many of our class mates are up to! Traveling the world, supporting kids and giving them a future.
more another time....Audrey
Hi Chuck - I checked this out and it looks really good. Thanks for the plug on the All School reunion. As of last Monday, these classmates of "57 were registered to attend: Kenneth Ament, Mary Ament, Julie Boyer, Jane Bradford, Mary Fox, Phyllis McIntire, Pat Rohr, Harsey Scott, Alvina Alice Stoderl, LaVonne Youngbauer, Charles Zosel. Janice makes a deposit and emails me a list every Monday and I check them off on the original list from the School, so that is why I used maiden names for the gals. Just thought you might be interested in who was registered so far Carol (Erickson)Taggart (Audrey’s sis)
Hi Chuck and all ‘57 classmates. Thanks to Rosie for including me in your blog. Computer illiterate, that's me. So forgive any goofs.
I'm really happy and proud to be a member of this class. We have really bonded even though we are far apart. I am looking forward to June and the all school reunion. Does anyone know if Pam is still in Forest Lakes, Ca.? We will be near there for 3 months this summer, and I would love to call and see her. My new email is artnjane@gmail.com. Thanks again Chuck -- really look forward to hearing from everyone. And I can't understand anyone sitting on a frozen lake, but good luck fishing!! I just tried to send this to the blog account, and it didn't go through. Told you I wasn't smart. Jane Bradford
Dear Editor:
First off do I have to join Face Book to continue receiving the Wadena News Letter Class of 57? I enjoy it very much and hope that you continue the fine service. Enclosed are a couple of news items of which you may delete or edit to your standards.
England Prairie News:
The Wayne Huffman's journeyed to the Tom Smiths on Wednesday to spend the day. A delicious lunch was served as they were joined by under Classmates Dick and Kay Halbmeier (Class of 59) Tom and Loie entertained by hosting games and good conversation. A good time was had by all.
Wayne Huffman and Charles Zosel along with Charles' Grandson Alex journeyed to Lake of the Woods for some late season ice fishing, spending two nights in a fish house. Many fish were caught, A fish fry was held and lots of good food was consumed. The weather was perfect and Grandson Al was the champion fisherman.
England Prairie Correspondent.
Ed Note: Thanks for the ‘hot’ news Prairie Dog. No, Facebook has fallen out of favor and is not required for membership in this elite group. More on the fishing trip follows.
One comment was posted to the Wadena Indians blog: Cis Richardson Brill Johnson left a new comment on the post "All School Reunion to Be Held in Wadena This Summer...":
“I'm one old duffer who isn't riding in any parades....What if some of us would fall off the hay wagon, flatbed, or whatever...What if the folding chairs collapsed, trapping us?????
Do we know that there are enough EMTs, ambulances firemen, etc. in Wadena to minister to a group of 71 year old revelers lying on the pavement in agony, or screaming senior citizens entombed in folding chairs????? I ask you, my classmates, to think twice before agreeing to this frivolity......”
Of course, this is tongue in cheek - Just wanted to get this started...
Ed Note: Not at all Cis, thanks for the heads up, this could be serious. Surely it would be prudent to wear proper protective equipment and obtain medical insurance coverage.
In regard to the class blog, an ad hoc committee of classmates was appointed to study the Wadena Indians website to assess it’s utility as a communication catalyst for the class of ’57. After considerable deliberation, individual members of the committee submitted reports to your editor. The majority conclusion indicated that the blog was not providing a useful function for the old duffers. As a result, the email newsletter will be continue to be the main vehicle of communicating monthly reports.
According to Study Committee member David Olson, We were getting a significant number of hits from Indonesian youth. For this reason alone, we will continue to maintain the site.
